Finally
by
Sifu Stephen Lyons

Finally after nearly 16 years of training Wing Chun 5 days a week, living it 365 days a year, I have been awarded international recognition as a Wing Chun Master for my dedication to this fine art.
I not saying that the course I have taken has been without it’s disappointments, but overall I have been blessed with some fine students who have passed the test of time and become close and valued friends.
I have been accused by some of being political having aired my views regarding certain schools that promise quick results and shrink wrapped solutions. There are no quick solutions in this art or any other, only hard work, determination and staying power will give the required results and I am willing to defend my views to the last, but enough of that.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank
Adam Murry, my 1st Wing Chun teacher and close friend.
I would like to thank him for showing me the path that I am still walking
and for teaching me about myself.
My students, but above all
Mandy Trotman (since Feb 1997) and Paul Burdett (also Feb 1997) for
keeping me on my toes and believing in me.
Grand Master Samuel Kwok for his remarkable teaching skills, welcoming me into the fold and making opportunities available to my students and I that would otherwise had not been possible.
Finally I would like to thank my late parents for teaching me that at times it pays to be humble and listen to what others have to say and that nothing is ever written in stone.
Train Safe, Train Smart,
Steve.
